Mermaid Dress: A Tribute To The Female Figure

Updated: May 20

What better way to bring in spring than with a mermaid dress? A daring design indeed! The style is a perfect blend of femininity and sexiness. Most folks say it is best worn by slender figures however I disagree. If you have curves-this is the perfect dress to accentuate them! It is form fitting through the torso and hips and "fishtails" out into a flare, adding the illusion of more curves. French Designer, Marcel Rochas, introduced the Mermaid Gown in the 1930s. This was a favorite choice among the Hollywood actresses in 1950s. Even now in 2020-this style is still coveted.

When I came across this dress-I had to purchase. I found it on PrettyLittleThing for under $100. Check out my page, for more details! The bandage material definitely adds an extra "oomph" to the style because it is very form fitting. A word of caution: Mermaid dresses are harder to move around because of the flaring at or below the knee. You may want to order a size up and alter the top smaller. Can we talk about the color? The dusty pink is so pretty and is so fitting for the spring season. I love the versatility of this dress. I can wear this either to a wedding or a cocktail party. My rose colored heels are from Fashion Nova.
